Songs of Life | Here Comes the Sun

I am thrilled to be participating in a lifestyle photography blog circle entitled Songs of Life along with several other incredibly talented photographers.  For this series, we will be using a different song each month  as our inspiration, while capturing everyday moments in our own lives.  We will be taking a lifestyle approach to our photography, as we document our own families living our own lives.  Lifestyle photography attempts to capture real moments, taking more of a documentary approach rather than posed portraits.  I am hoping to incorporate more lifestyle photography within my client sessions, and I am so excited to participate in this monthly project.  This month’s inspiration was the song “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles.  If you would like to listen to it as you read through the blog circle, follow this link.

When I heard the song title and listened to the song, I immediately associated it with the arrival of summer.  Although summer technically doesn’t start for another month, here in Arizona, it’s alive and well.  Bella just finished her first year of preschool, and Monday was her first day off from school.  We have more free time, and we are trying to soak up as much outside time as we can before it starts getting ridiculously hot here.  The heat is rapidly approaching, so we took this opportunity to play out front.  Bella wanted to play hopscotch, which for her mostly means throwing a rock onto a square and hopping around to get it.  I’ll teach her more of the rules later, but for now, she was having so much fun playing her own version.

Eventually, the allure of the sidewalk chalk was too much, and hopscotch was abandoned for drawing.

Although I dread the heat of Arizona summers, I am excited for the fun I will get to have with my girl this summer!

Please continue on in our blog circle and check out the beautiful images from Oklahoma photographer Rebecca Lundin in her blog A Life Examined.

  • alauna - i am loving your lifestyle work. she is so cute in her shades, enjoying the sun. of course, i’m slightly jealous that you don’t have to wait much of the year for this type of weather (i guess, aside from the excessive heat in which you are desperate for those “cool” spring days).ReplyCancel

    • sharonspall - haha Alauna – it’s just a completely different indoor season here. We all hide out in the air conditioning in the summer and crave the first cool day in October when we can open our doors and windows and let in the beautiful air. Much like spring for you all. 😉 I would have to totally shift my paradigm if I moved up north!ReplyCancel

  • sharonspall - And thank you so much!ReplyCancel
